IAS Presents Forum on Sustainable (Green) Products Certification

The burgeoning field of Sustainable (Green) Products is having a positive impact on every aspect of building construction, especially in the standards arena for organizations that test, inspect and certify products that qualify as "Green." International Accreditation Service (IAS) is providing a presentation and open discussion on the role of the international accreditation standards for testing laboratories, inspection bodies and product certification agencies in Sustainable (Green) Products Certification. The IAS presentation will touch upon opportunities, challenges and new markets for accredited laboratories, inspection bodies and product certifiers. Anyone interested in the opportunities available in the evaluation, inspection and certification of Green products and sustainable construction are encouraged to attend the meeting, participate in the forum, and learn about new trends in this dynamic area.

The Green forum is being held in conjunction with IAS's Accreditation Committee meeting which is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at the Westin Los Angeles Airport Hotel. The Accreditation Committee is IASs decision-making body that meets twice yearly in open public hearings and provides an opportunity for stakeholders, building officials and other interested parties to provide input and have a direct voice in IAS accreditation programs. Those interested in attending are given 60 days notice and full access, via the IAS website (www.iasonline.org), to all subjects on the committee's agenda under consideration. Participants are invited to submit written comments prior to the meeting or to make oral presentations during the meeting. In addition to the Green forum, the spring meeting of the committee will include several subjects including revisions to the IAS accreditation criteria for testing and calibration laboratories, inspection agencies, product certification agencies and building departments/code enforcement agencies. Items on the agenda are heard in the order presented on the agenda. For further information, please contact IAS at (562) 699-0541, extension 3309 or visit the IAS website.
