Over the course of three days, IAS experts hosted a number of activities to highlight building department accreditation around the country.

During this time, several dozen building code professionals participated in the Building Department Accreditation Lead Evaluator training held during the International Code Council's 2007 Annual Conference. Free to registered conference attendees, the IAS Lead Evaluator training program outlined lead evaluator responsibilities as well as the purpose, process and benefits of attaining building department accreditation.

IAS also joined the fun and educational Cracker Barrel luncheon to offer insight into the benefits of Building Department Accreditation. The Cracker Barrel event is the Code Council's way of introducing attendees to a range of Council services through quick 20-minute interactive presentations. The presentations are held at tables seating just 10 people, and offer insight into a specific topic, such as building department accreditation.

IAS staff also took time to talk with the Major Jurisdictions Committee about the Building Department Accreditation program. This committee is a collaboration of members representing diverse communities who have specific geographical and demographic needs that represent urban construction dynamics impacting the built environment.

Finally, West Palm Beach School District and the City of Plano, Texas, were honored during an awards luncheon for achieving Building Department Accreditation status from IAS.
