TAC Member Receives Prestigious ASCE Honor

Ayman Mosallam, Ph.D., professor in residence of civil and environmental engineering at the Henry Samueli School of Engineering at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), received the Outstanding Civil Engineering Faculty Advisor award from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). The award recognizes Mosallam’s outstanding contributions to the civil engineering profession, students and the community.
Mosallam is the Director of the Structural Engineering Testing Hall at UCI and an active member of the International Accreditation Service (IAS) Technical Advisory Council (TAC)—Laboratories. In this capacity, he is involved with shaping IAS accreditation policies and protocol, conformity assessment practices, test procedures, calibration, and other accreditation-related activities.
Mosallam’s research focuses on structural and earthquake engineering with special emphasis on polymer composites, structural health monitoring of bridges and constructed facilities, green construction materials and systems, and seismic repair and rehabilitation. He has published more than 200 technical papers, chapters and reports, and has been involved in several major research projects working with the development and verification of innovative seismic repair and rehabilitation systems for reinforced concrete, masonry, wood and steel structures.
