International Code Council Credits Now Awarded for IAS Lead Building Department Accreditation Evaluators

The International Code Council Board for International Professional Standards (BIPS) recently voted to expand the Code Council certification renewal options to provide 1.0 CEU credit for those who have served as an International Accreditation Service (IAS) Lead Evaluator for Building Department Accreditation during the last three years. This credit may apply to renewal of any Code Council certification. BIPS provided this credit in recognition of the exceptional professional development benefits that accrue to an evaluator through service as an IAS Lead Evaluator. Board members noted that Lead Evaluators not only share expertise in the practical elements of quality code administration specified by AC251, but also gain new perspectives on quality code administration by observing practices of other jurisdictions.

All IAS Lead Evaluators must successfully complete a rigorous three-day qualification course, and participate in at least two evaluations in a supporting role as a Lead Evaluator-in-Training. Classes are offered twice a year at various locations. For additional information and for class registration, please contact Kellee Lostaunau at 866-427-4422, ext. 3448.
