IAS Honors Las Vegas and Henderson
The International Accreditation Service (IAS) honored the City of Las Vegas and the City of Henderson building departments at an awards luncheon on Wednesday, September 20, at the International Code Council 2006 Annual Conference.
The cities were recognized for being the first in the nation to receive Building Department Accreditation status from IAS. "In doing so, they both are leaders in their field and recognize the value that accreditation brings to their departments and to the code enforcement profession in general," stated IAS President Chuck Ramani, who presented the awards.
Las Vegas was the first building department to receive IAS accreditation. Tom Gage, Inspections Manager from the Department of Building and Safety accepted the award on behalf of the city.
Michael Bouse, Director of Building and Fire Safety, accepted the award on behalf of the city of Henderson, Nevada.
IAS accreditation provides independent verification that building departments meet the national standard and are professionally qualified to serve their jurisdictions. IAS accredited building departments have proven that they operate under the highest ethical, legal and technical standards and that they have the ability to offer the public enhanced life safety and property protection.
