IAS Offers Accreditation Program for Personnel Certification Bodies Based on ISO/IEC Standard 17024

The International Accreditation Service (IAS) now offers an accreditation program for personnel certification bodies to verify compliance with ISO/IEC Standard 17024.The international standard is a benchmark to evaluate certification bodies. Personnel certification recognizes an individual’s competency, shows commitment to the profession, helps with job advancement, and can be an asset both to an employee and an employer.

A wide range of professions have voluntary or mandatory certification programs including construction, nursing, accountancy, information technology and software development.

“We are excited about providing service and support to the highest-quality personnel certification bodies by offering accreditation to ISO/IEC 17024,” said IAS Work Force Qualification Program Manager Dr. Dave Nelson. “The ability of the public and employers to identify people who are competent in their profession is central to public safety and success in the business world.”

IAS also offers accreditation for training agencies and curriculum developers under its Work Force Qualification Services Program.

A subsidiary of the International Code Council (ICC), IAS is one of the leading accreditation bodies in the United States and a signatory to several international mutual recognition arrangements (MRAs). IAS maintains active/voting membership in the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), a global organization of recognized accreditation bodies that have agreed to adhere to the highest standards of professional practice.
