IAS Board Discusses Strategic Plan, Update on Customer Relationship Management Software

On May 18, 2012, the IAS Board of Directors convened in San Diego, Calif. to meet and deliberate on several subjects dealing with the governance of IAS, to receive progress reports on the 2012 business plan, review the IAS financial report and to receive updates from the Managers of several IAS accreditation programs. The face-to-face meeting began with introductions of two new board members, William (Bill) McHugh, Executive Director of the Firestop Contractors International Association and Rocco Davis, Vice President and Regional Manager of the Pacific Southwest Region of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA).

Following Chairman John Barrios and IAS President Chuck Ramani’s opening reports, the Board was given presentations on IAS’s financial condition, the IAS Workplan and IAS’s Technical Advisory Councils (TACs). The Board took action to appoint former, long-time Board chairman Majed Dabdoub to the TAC for Building Department Accreditation and appointed Mr. K.G. Baburajan, Managing Director of Qatar Engineering Laboratories to the IAS Accreditation Committee. Although much of the meeting was devoted to discussing the IAS 2012-2015 Strategic Plan, the Board took the time to receive an update on the health of the IAS quality management system which is a standing item on the Board agenda. IAS has embarked on an ambitious plan to update its operating systems to a Microsoft-based Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software. The CRM will enhance IAS’s program management capabilities and will integrate seamlessly with the existing accounting software already in place. This effort is undertaken to streamline and enhance the administration of IAS accreditation programs enabling IAS to provide customer service in a more efficient manner.

The Board discussed the plans already underway in preparation for ICC’s 2012 Annual Conference which will be held in Portland, Oregon. IAS has several educational and training programs planned and will have a prominent role in this year’s Annual Meeting which will coincide with the next meeting of the IAS Board.
