Proposed Accreditation Criteria on the Agenda for the September 18, 2008, IAS Accreditation Committee Hearing

Accreditation criteria that will be discussed at the September 18, 2008, IAS Accreditation Committee hearing are listed below. You are invited to participate at the hearing and provide written or oral comments.

The purpose of the hearing is to establish or revise accreditation criteria pertaining to IAS accreditation programs. The open hearing process provides all interested parties with the opportunity to contribute ideas or voice their opinions on the items posted on the agenda.

The hearing will begin at 8:00 a.m.

  1. AC371 – Training Agencies for Work Force Qualification Programs. Revisions are proposed to move requirements for financial conditions and audits to a new administrative section, and to make the language consistent with ISO 17024. click here
  2. AC372 – Curriculum Development for Work Force Qualification Programs. Revisions are proposed to move the requirements for financial conditions and audits to a new administrative section, and to make the language consistent with ISO 17024. click here
  3. AC354 – Field Evaluation of Unlisted Electrical Equipment. Revisions are proposed regarding maintenance of documentation, subcontracting and reporting requirements. click here
  4. AC89 – Testing Laboratories. Revisions are proposed to clarify technician qualifications/certifications. click here
  5. AC98 – Inspection Agencies. Revisions are proposed to clarify inspector qualifications/certifications and field monitoring of newly hired inspectors. click here
  6. MISC1 – Lumber Grading Agencies. This is a discussion item regarding IAS accreditation and Voluntary Product Standard PS-20, the American Softwood Lumber Standard (PS-20), or equivalent. click here
  7. AC402 – Third Party Plan Check and/or Inspection Service Providers. This is a new criteria for third-party, non-governmental providers of plan check and/or inspection services. click here
  8. AC251 – Building Departments/Code Enforcement Agencies. Revisions are proposed due to creation of a new proposed criteria for Third Party Service Providers. click here
  9. AC472 – Fabricator Inspection Program for Manufacturers of Metal Building Systems. Revisions are proposed in several sections to provide clarity. click here
  10. AC291 – IBC® Special Inspection Agencies. Revisions are proposed to expand the scope to include the inspection of firestop systems. click here
  11. AC157 – Fabricator Inspection Programs for Reinforced Concrete. Revisions are proposed to include Precast Concrete Institute (PCI) Certified Plants and to reference current codes/standards. click here
