Proposed Accreditation Criteria on the Agenda for the April 8, 2008, IAS Accreditation Committee Hearing

The hearing will be held at The Westin Los Angeles Airport Hotel, 5400 W. Century Blvd., Los Angeles, CA, (310) 216-5858. There is a block of rooms for IAS Accreditation at the rate of $149+ per night. When making your reservations at the hotel, please specify that you will be attending the IAS Accreditation meeting to receive this rate. Guest rooms must be booked by March 7, 2008, for this rate.

Accreditation criteria that will be discussed at the April 8, 2008, IAS Accreditation Committee hearing are listed below. You are invited to participate at the hearing and provide written or oral comments.

The purpose of the hearing is to establish or revise accreditation criteria pertaining to IAS accreditation programs. The open hearing process provides all interested parties with the opportunity to contribute ideas or voice their opinions on the items posted on the agenda.

The hearing will begin at 8:00 a.m.

1. AC371 – Training Agencies for Work Force Qualification Programs. Revisions are proposed to expand the scope, to add two definitions, and to clarify certain sections. click here

2. AC372 – Curriculum Development for Work Force Qualification Programs. Revisions are proposed to add a reference document and to clarify certain sections. click here

3. AC204 – Calibration Laboratories. Revisions are proposed to update the referenced ANSI standard, to remove two calibration technician’s certification programs, to expand the Assessment section, and to add a new section regarding proficiency testing. click here

4. AC89 – Testing Laboratories. Revisions are proposed to add a reference document on proficiency testing. click here

5. AC370 – Product Certification Agencies. Revisions are proposed to add a new reference document and to clarify the eligibility section. click here

6. AC472 – Fabricator Inspection for Manufacturers of Metal Buildings. This is a new criteria for inspection programs for manufacturers of metal buildings. click here

7. AC251 – Building Departments/Code Enforcement Agencies. Revisions are proposed to clarify certain sections. click here

8. AC291 – IBC® Special Inspection Agencies. Revisions are proposed to clarify three sections and to add an alternate qualification for soils inspectors. click here

9. Discussion on “The Role of ISO/IEC Standards 17020, 17025 and Guide 65 in Sustainable (Green) Products Certification.” This will be a discussion item only, there are no documents.
